Final Touch Housekeeping - We don't cut corners... We clean them! ™
 ~ FAQ's - Frequently Asked Questions ~

Please read about the liability of hiring an unlicensed, uninsured service or contractor - about 1/2 way down.  This is important.

Can we be home when you clean?
Since it is your home, you can absolutely be home when we are there cleaning.  The master bathroom does take longer than any other area of your home so please plan accordingly so your cleaners can do an outstanding job for you.

What kinds of products do you use?
We have done extensive research on cleaning products and work with product trainers at Hillyard.  We starting using different products only to discover they weren't as effective as we originally thought.  We primarily use Green Cleaners such as Basic H2 and Thieves and are in the process of becoming Green Clean Certified.  However we know that green cleaners are not strong enough to kill bacteria - more so in your bathrooms.  We have learned that non-green cleaners work better at sanitizing and disinfecting such as Clorox Clean-up and SoftScrub.  We do provide all of our own cleaners, but are happy to use your cleaners if you have a preference.

Can you clean with my dog at home?

We are all animal lovers and would like the opportunity to get to know your 4-legged child.  You certainly know your dog better than we do.  If you feel that your dog could be a threat to our staff, please keep your dog kenneled, outside, in the garage, or in the basement.  However, if for any reason your dog acts aggressive toward a staff member causing the staff member to feel threatened, you will immediately be contacted about your dog.  It is possible that our staff will need to leave and a make-up cleaning will have to be scheduled. An extra trip charge of $20.00 will be assessed for the return trip.

Do you move furniture or climb high ladders?

We are able to move most coffee tables, ottomans or other small furniture weighing less than 10 pounds.  However moving items such as couches, love seats, dressers or beds is a liability risk and we will not be able to accommodate those kinds of requests.  If you want your baseboards dusted behind heavier furniture, please have your furniture moved away from the wall, no less than 6 inches.  If you want your baseboards wet wiped behind heavier furniture, please have your furniture moved out a full 18 inches.    We do not ever climb high ladders, however we do utilize step stools climbing a height of no more than 3 steps.

Do you wash windows?

Due to the tempering process of glass, cleaning windows is a specialty we do not perform.  In addition, we lack the professional equipment necessary for properly cleaning windows.  The only windows we will clean (weather and dog permitting) is your sliding glass door (both the slider and the stationary side, inside and outside.)

What items don't you clean?

Again, we don't clean windows, interior of china hutches or cabinets, interior of toasters or toaster ovens, interior of ovens (however if you start an "auto-clean" cycle the night before, we will wipe it out), baby items such as high chairs, change crib sheets, baby gates, exer-saucers, or diaper pails, cat boxes, vacuum excessive cat litter from the floor, heavily clutters areas, dust extremely fragile knick-knacks, laundry or gather dirty dishes, load/unload your dishwasher.

Can I leave my payment (cash or check) on the counter?

If you had an acceptable bid after the first of the month and if your cleaning won't occur for at least 7 days, please mail your payment to Final Touch Housekeeping, 5511 S. Yakima St. Aurora, CO  80015.  If you had an acceptable bid after the first of the month and your cleaning is to occur in less than 7 days, please have either Michelle or Becky come by to pick-up your payment.  Our cleaning staff has enough on their minds without having to remember to pick-up a check or drop it off.  Future invoicing will be e-mailed by the 15th of the month payable by the 1st of the month.  We work hard to make the cleaning process run as efficiently as possible and if we can eliminate any potential confusion, we will.  Please mail your payment as outlined in the Payment / Fees section of our Policies and Procedures.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all forms of payment.  Cash, personal check, money order and all major credit cards; Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and any Credit Card/Debit Card.  Check payments should be made according to the directions in the paragraph above.  Credit card payments are to be made through PayPal.  You can find the directions for credit card payments on our Make Payments Here page.

Can I afford a housekeeper?

The Time Factor

How much is your time worth? The first thing to determine, is the amount of time you will gain from not doing the work yourself.  What would you do with that additional time?  Work a few extra hours?  Spend time with your family?  What are these things worth to you? It's not about how much the housekeeping service costs, but what it gives you back.  Busy moms and dads, who try to play Super Parent, often end up spending money on other  conveniences, like pre-packaged meals, fast food, babysitters and dry cleaning in an effort to save time.  If the housekeeping service gives you back five hours a week in non-cleaning time, then other conveniences aren't necessarily needed. How often do you get the luxury of buying more time?  Busy parents are often running to and from daycare or school and extra-curricular activities during the week, leaving their weekends for cleaning duty. This takes up the few precious hours of family time with work or chores, not activities with the people who matter most in our lives.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to use a private individual or smaller service?

Breakages and Thefts:

Sure, a cleaner who is not affiliated with a service or national company can be cheaper, but may not be licensed, insured or bonded. If something is broken or stolen, the homeowner is left with the bill, not the uninsured service or individual. With an insured service, any broken or stolen items are replaced at the service's cost, with no charge to the homeowner. You need to ask to SEE their Certificate of Insurance followed by a call to the Insurance Agent listed on the Certificate to ensure the coverage is in good standing.

Does every housekeeping service carry insurance?

Accidents, Medical Bills & Loss of Wages:

Not necessarily... What happens if your housekeeper suffers an accident while cleaning in your home?  He or she could falls down the stairs, or off a ladder, spray cleaning product in their eyes, or trip over uneven concrete while taking out the trash, just to name a few possibilities.  Who pays for the medical bills and loss of wages?  With an insured service, these expenses are covered by their insurance. Without an insured service, YOUR homeowners insurance covers their medical expenses and loss of wages and YOU both pay the deductible and could have an increase in your home owners insurance due to that claim - something most people don't even think about. You need to ask to SEE their Certificate of Insurance followed by a call to the Insurance Agent listed on the Certificate to ensure the coverage is in good standing.  It is also ESSENTIAL that your cleaning service, if they utilize employees, carries Workers Compensation. Final Touch Housekeeping carries Workers Compensation Insurance through Pinnacol Assurance and we are happy to provide you with our certificate of Insurance.

Who's responsible for employment taxes?

Taxes:

Not checking legalities can also lead to a tax snafu, similar to the one Secretary of Labor nominee Linda Chavez found herself in a few years ago. If the service doesn't take care of taxes, the homeowner is supposed to - something most people aren't aware of. An unregulated, unlicensed service may also hire illegal aliens, again putting the homeowner at the forefront of responsibility for reporting issues. Licensing  and insuring gives you the added layer of protection you need.  You are opening up your home to the service and you need to be sure it will be taken care of.

You should research the company name or individual name with the Colorado Secretary of State to ensure they are licensed to conduct business in Colorado.  You should also ask to see their Unemployment Account Number, their Wage Withholding Account Number, and their Federal Employer Identification Number as verification they do pay their own taxes.

Final Touch Housekeeping has all of the documentation we need to be a legitimate corporation with the State of Colorado and the Internal Revenue Service.  We carry TWO MILLION in general liability insurance through Colorado Casualty to give you peace of mind while covering the corporations interests and carry Workers Compensation for all of our employees, which is a Dept. of Labor law. We are licensed with the State of Colorado in Good Standing, pay all Local, State and Federal Taxes (and are happy to provide our Unemployment Account Number, our Wage Withholding Account Number, and our Federal Employer Identification Number), and speak fluent English. Click here to see our Certificate of Insurance.  We are a privately-owned company that provides fully legal, personalized cleaning for those who want the absolute best.
